The Northwest Environmental Conference established a conference greening program to demonstrate how we can use environmental sustainable practices in conference planning. Consult our sponsorship brochure to see how you can become an Environmental Steward sponsor this year.
Here are the results we hope to achieve for 2007:
• Teamed with CarpoolMatchNW.org to provide easy access to carpooling for attendees from Oregon and Washington
• Encouraged conference participants to carpool, take public transit or bike and provided information on public transportation in the registration brochure and on our website
• Provided on-line registration incorporating electronic confirmations
• Printed conference materials on recycled paper with soy-based inks
• Donated left over food to St. Vincent de Paul Food Train
• Provided a recycling program for mixed paper and beverage containers
• Recycled and reused name badges and signs
• Provided 100% certified organic/shade grown coffee at breaks
• Encouraged exhibitors to green their booths by partnering with NEBC to award the "greenest" exhibitor a discount on next year's exhibitor fees. • Provided a door prize drawing for attendees who took alternative transportation and who rode their bike.
Carbon Offsets
Significant contributions by our Environmental Stewardship sponsors will enable NWEC to contribute to the The Climate Trust. This organization invests funding from power plants, businesses, and individuals into projects that offset Green House Gas emissions.
